track 4 is called ‘hill-billy hoe-down’ and it was the first audio anything i had ever made. it’s got pretty cheesy loops and sounds completely awkward, and you really feel like a red-neck when you listen to it. i suppose there is a lil’ red-neck in all of us 😉

the name of this next track is ‘dream of alarm clocks’. one morning smarch unfortunately woke me up whilst in the middle of the most perfect dream state. it was cold and bright outside and i was warm and cozy in bed. disgruntled at the idea of going to school during a dutch winter, i rolled over; still in my bed, towards my notebook, which coincidently sleeps next to me 😉 and put together this track in my pj’s as a soundtrack to that dream… no wait, that waxes the poetic. it was actually a procrastination stalling tactic to stay in bed for as long as possible. yes, thats right. the truth is much better.

do_Op <———- me with head phones still sleepy-faced

up next is track 2 of my first attempt at an album. the title of this track is ‘death of electro’ because after i made and listenend to it… well, maybe you should listen. it speaks for itself.

using the handle “garageband her0”, i have made some amateurish jingles using garageband, canned loops and other samples for sh!ts and giggles. i have compiled an album called “the discarded companions guide to emotionally immediate computing; a love story”. i will try to upload a song a day for your listening pain/pleasure. here is the first track on the album:

pica pica shoot

i have put some polaroids on flickr that i took while participating in a photo shoot with pica pica. another dynamic duo of super creative fashion designers who are based out of berlin; katja and katrin bring a fresh style and modern look that accentuates the qualities that all sexes share, and combines those qualities with their own dreams of form and function.. their pieces can be worn and enjoyed equally by all sexes. seemingly ornamental highlights built into the clothing easily becomes functional, even playful. pica pica clothing initiates the wearer into taking new ways to wear their designs.

best wishes to pica pica and i look forward to uli’s wedding suit!

lingling shoot 9

so on tuesday maedel.maedel and i spent valentine’s day together along with a dozen or so women in a photo studio in kreuzberg. the day mostly involved eating olives and gummy bears, shooting film, chatting, taking cloths off, putting cloths on, you get the
picture.

the shoot was for a talented duo of fashion designer and pattern drafter team that reps under the name ‘Missing LingLing Designs’. originally hailing out of australia, the two are now based out of berlin making fabulous pieces for women and soon for men too. red hot ice cold would bearly put into words the work they are doing.

the photos will appear as a spread in an eastern european mag some time in the next couple months. i’ll get some scans up as soon as i get my hands on the magazine.

it was.. interesting at times to be treated as the center of attention and also, as a piece of furniture, but it was truly a great pleasure to meet and work with all of the people involved.

*special shoutouts to maedel.maedel for the photos!

after having a great time hosting students from the Minerva academy from Groningen, the Netherlands for Transmiediale, things have settled down somewhat and we are finally able to sit down and work on some projects that need to be finished by the end of this month.

Lending her super design sense and corporate know how (something that the boys and i have very little knowledge in) maedel.maedel is down in Berlin to help us out with content creation for a proxy server we are building for a cafe in Mitte.

i may have mentioned Sankt Oberholz in previous posts, but for those who don’t know, it is a wonderful cafe in Berlin Mitte that provides free internet to its patrons, along with all the niceties that are involved with cozy cafes. We are making a proxy that will do things like banner replacement and also host a live web log to account the day to day community activities that involve the cafe. it feels like we are working on an online social network as much as making an ad replacing proxy server.
Collaborating on this kind of work makes the atelier space feel more and more like an office. definitely a place where one feels they can be productive. Yes. Productive.

working environment

Yet all is not working in a dark office in front of computer monitors. We also managed to get some sunlight. (Look! we went outside!)

some sunlight

*an extra special thanks to maedel.maedel for the help. i’m looking forward to the next collaboration 😉

so the other day smarch, binary.koala and i were on our way to the neighborhood kabob shop when we stumbled upon a family moving out of their apartment.  hot on the heels of this early spring cleaning action, we managed to pillage a few nice things including a great set of leather couches.. score!  here is a pic binary.koala made of me arguing with myself.  we have made a nice little meeting area with our new set of old stuff so drop by and check it out.  yay!

Self-Ajustment

ok, well from the sounds of the poor encoding of the voip hacking lecture recorded from 22c3 streaming choppily to my airport express, it seems to appear that the itunes pod-cast listing actually works and you guys can subscribe using an rss feed listed directly in the program to auto-download any media files that appear on my web-log. of course the quality of content in those recordings are another question…

the feed is

http://www.villainous.biz/wordpress/wp-rss2.php

in itunes, under the -= advanced : Suscribe To Podcast… =- menu list in itunes, place the above url into the url input box and hit ok. hope you know what you’re getting yourself into. hope i know what i’m getting myself into?

the boys and i just finished hosting a workshop for 15 students from the Minerva Academy for Art and Design in Gronigen, The Netherlands.  producing mostly videos and good times, our guests were a pleasure to entertain and helped provide an inspiring and productive week, not to mention kicking my ass in chess on more then one occasion (bloody chess geeks! ;-)).  thanks to Minerva for the laughs and see you in berlin real soon!
